| Gov Blanco Orders Faster Road Home Program |
WESTWEGO, LOUISIANA - November 6, 2006. Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has ordered that rebuilding money for 10,000 storm-damaged families be approved by the end of November.
Louisiana's Road Home program, backed by $7.5 billion in federal money, has received almost 80,000 applications, but so far only 1,351 families have been told how much they will receive.
Walter Leger, head of the Louisiana Recovery Authority's housing task force, said that the private contractor administering the Road Home program could reach 10,000 awards by the end of the month and make 20,000 awards per month within a few months. |
